Mechanical Engineer Technologist

SUMMARY

Mechanical Engineers/Technologists produce specifications for, design, develop, manufacture and install new or modified mechanicalcomponents or systems. Mechanical engineers need to be technically minded, able to demonstrate numerical and scientific ability and have problem-solving skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and interpret conventional and computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for machines and components, power transmission systems, process piping, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems
  • Prepare cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports
  • Prepare mechanical BOMs
  • Conduct tests and analyses of machines, components and materials to determine their performance, strength, response to stress and other characteristics
  • Design moulds, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for use in manufacturing processes
  • Maintain and enforce internal design process, including the Product Development Process, Change Management Process (CMP), Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process and Engineering Design Standards
  • Provide technical support as assigned

REQUIREMENTS – EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical) or Technology Diploma (Mechanical) required
  • 3 years or more experiences in mechanical design
  • Working knowledge of power requirements, electrical device technologies, grounding strategies, routing management and circuit protection requirements
  • Familiar with DC/DC, AC/DC topology
  • Familiar with related electrical safety and industry standards
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool is considered as an asset
  • Experience in 3D modeling software Autodesk Inventor is required.
  • Knowledge of MRP system is considered as an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
