Electrical Engineer Technologist

SUMMARY

As an Electrical Engineer/Technologist, you will be involved with new product designs. You will encompass a broad range of the electrical subsystems and equipment that may include; power electronics, electric propulsion, battery management system, charger, multiplex controls, high voltage and low voltage harness and software integration. As a member of the Engineering Team, your professional expertise will ensure engineering design changes are controlled and conveyed in an orderly manner. Working closely with manufacturing and various departments, you will have a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of the organizational team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for electrical design, including CAD modeling, material and equipment selection
  • Responsible for configuring engineering bill of materials for electrical systems
  • Responsible for electrical hardware and software design validation and testing
  • Conduct or lead electrical design related component failure and risk analysis as assigned
  • Maintained and enforce internal design process, including the Product Development Process, Change Management Process (CMP), Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process and Engineering Design Standards
  • Responsible for maintaining high voltage electrical safety standards
  • Provide technical support as assigned

REQUIREMENTS – EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Engineering degree (Electrical) or Technology Diploma (Electrical) required
  • 3 years or more design experiences
  • Experience with schematics and harness layout using CAD software
  • Working knowledge of power requirements, electrical device technologies, grounding strategies, routing management and circuit protection requirements
  • Familiar with DC/DC, AC/DC topology
  • Familiar with related electrical safety and industry standards
  • Familiar with battery management system software design, validation and implementation is an asset
  • Knowledge of vehicle multiplex programming, PLC programming, MATLAB/Simulink or C experience is considered as an asset
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool is considered as an asset
  • Experience in 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of MRP system is considered as an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
